shell design's beneficiary is The Ocean
Conservancy. The Ocean Conservancy is the oldest
and largest non-profit organization in the United
States that is dedicated solely to marine
conservation efforts. The mission of The Ocean
Conservancy is to protect ocean ecosystems and
conserve the global abundance and diversity of
marine wildlife.
The Ocean Conservancy uses its 32 years of science
based advocacy, research and public education to
inform, inspire and empower people to speak and
act for the oceans. They sponsor such iniatives as
the International Coastal Cleanup. In 2004, more
than 900,000 people in over 100 countries
collected 12.5 million pounds of trash from our
global waterways. Other iniatives include
endangered species advocacy, protection of bottle
nosed dolphins via programs with commercial
fishermen, and adoption of new rules for shrimp
fishermen that help sea turtles escape drowning.
